Large Red Porcelain Bowl
Wheel thrown porcelain. The ultimate example of the kind of reds I was achieving from the late nineties. Exceptionally deep colouration and wonderfully varied. Where the bowl was licked by the flame of the oil kiln the glaze has been burned pure white. I chose to enhance this area by rubbing black Indian ink into the crackle.
The inside has a minor flaw - it has some mild scuffing that can really only be seen when examined up close. It's just too difficult to capture on a photograph. I would suggest that it still gives 95% enjoyment but I have reduced the price dramatically. This bowl was the very first large porcelain copper red bowl I ever made.
